Allie Fox
has worked as a solo musician for many years, playing in clubs and venues
throughout Britain. Her songs are full of catchy hooks and well-crafted
lyrics, and she has a warm emotive voice at times reminiscent of the late
great Sandy Denny. Apart from her songwriting skills, she is an ace finger-picking
guitarist and is currently working on a purely instrumental album of original
guitar tunes. Allie's finger-picking style, mainly in non-standard tunings,
owes much to her early influences: John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Stefan Grossman,
Rory Block, John Renbourn and Bert Jansch. Her tunes are an interesting
mixture of Celtic and American ingredients and have been described by
leading British folk magazine Folk Roots as "meticulous playing".
Allie is available
either as a solo artist or in a duo with Fish lead guitarist Frank Usher.
She also works with jazz/blues guitarist Neil Warden (Tam White/Celtic
Groove Connection). In addition to running the successful live music
venue The String Jam Club which she set up in 1997, she runs fox
& fox music international which promotes the music of her late
brother, the classical composer Malcolm Fox (www.malcolmfox.com)

Allie Fox's third
album will feature arrangements by classical composer Gary Carpenter,
musical director of the cult film "The Wicker Man", winner
of 4 Vivien Ellis Awards and the Warner-Chappell Music Prize and who
orchestrated of Damon Albarn's music for the film "Ravenous".
